André Kultanen is a visual artist based in Helsinki, he has worked with photography and moving image since 2020 but André has lately worked with found material and everyday objects, creating and crafting installations that convey a sense of nostalgia. André is also an avid collector of design objects, ranging from small trinkets to obscure furniture, which can also be seen in the artistic process. In a way André is crafting a bond between Arte povera and the complete opposite, creating a narrative which feels uncanny but yet nostalgic. André is best known for his self-portraits, whether they're moving images or still, his work has left him with a huge catalogue of auto-biographic imagery making it part curatorial; choosing the images and crafting a narrative of how he wants to be seen by the world.
